Unexpected experiences and surprises wait deep down on the ocean floor: a body with many arms lights up the depth. Arrogant and presumptuous, there is no doubt about who is the ruler down here. A lonely but nevertheless unafraid character with forms born out of the resemblance to other inhabitants of the unknown.
The character is Cirrata, a glowing lamp in the darkness of the ocean. Markus Johansson has created a lamp that challenges all ideas about what is possible to make out of aluminium. The symmetrical arms equally carry the weight of the lamp.

About The Designer
Markus Johansson design studio (Sweden) are working in segments of products, furniture, graphic and interior design. The inspiration comes from various environments stretching from the human to the artefact, through analysing and processes. The vision is to combine construction, function and form to enrich the everyday experience. Environmental thinking is of course important, but shouldn’t hinder creativity.

When I grew up I used to commu- nicate using pictures and by drawing, shaping and coloring. After six years of studying furniture and product design at various schools, I am now working as a designer in different segments as products, interior, graphic and furniture.”
